The Cost of FUE transplant should not be affected by new techniques of hair restoration. The innovative technology of hair restoration makes it easier to do the procedure in shorter time period and that is how the practice can be more efficient.

The results of FUE will not be better since the other methods used for FUE can produce similar quality. In fact, I suspect the quality may be affected negatively if the hair transplant surgeon is not equipped with other methods that FUE transplant could be done such as manual or other motorized FUE extractor methods.

At US Hair Restoration, at times we have to try 5-8 different methods or punch sizes to see which one works better for each individual patients. That is not something that the Robot can do. Not yet.

So basically none of the remedies would work for preventing hair loss, only by having a hair transplant is proven to work.

There is not medical evidence to support that swimming in the water extensively contributes to hair loss. Remember though certain stresses or illness can trigger hair loss; most hair loss is male pattern baldness [MPB] and it is a genetic determination. Women can also have a similar condition female patter baldness [FPB.]

Does the fact that they are in water all day long, have to do with the hairline? My daughter loves to swim and wants to go to the Olympics, is this a normal consequence. Thank you!

I was wondering now that this new technique with the Robotic Hair Restoration is going to be used, Is the cost of FUE going to be more expensive? Are the results going to be better with the Robotic then having a technician doing the procedure?

Thanks for the comment Frank,

The article that you are referring to is titled "Donor hair follicle preservation by partial follicular unit extraction. A method to optimize hair transplantation". It is authored by Gho and Neuman and is published in Journal of Dermatological Treatment in 2010.

The concept of getting more hair from the existing hair pool of a patient is very interesting and the authors did a limited study on five patients to remove the hair from the donor area partially and leave the remnants in place so the partial longitudinally transected hairs create new hair both in recipient and in donor area.

The authors stated that they have had 89.6 to 101.7% regrowth in the recipient area and 92.1 to 104.1% regrowth in the donor area. These numbers are way higher than transplanting intact hairs based on many other studies in the past (Drs. Beehner and Limmer's research on the regrowth of intact follicular units).

I agree with you and I believe, the studies like this should be reproducible and they need to be repeated (with similar result) in other centers before they could be considered seriously in medical literature. I look forward to seeing more studies of that kind with comparable results.
